Part 1 

Counselor Information 

Youth, 17 years or older, are eligible to apply as camp counselors. The counselor position requires a firm 2-week commitment (Sunday, July 5th, 2020 to Sunday, July 19th, 2020). The first 5 days consists of valuable leadership training that prepares counselors as role models for the campers; following this training are the exciting 9 days of the camp itself.

 

Eligibility criteria include prior HYSC experience as a camper, CIT or counselor, knowledge of Hindu Heritage, Red Cross certification and other relevant skills.

Younger candidates may be considered if they have attended camp for 5 years or more and on a case-by-case basis.

Counselor Application
Step 1
    - Complete the online application  (including an essay for first-time applicants  and questionnaire for returning applicants)
    - Upload Picture or Email picture in jpeg format with filename LastName_FirstName 
    - Email recommendation letter from a non-family member to counselor@hinduyouthcamp.org  ( first time applicants only)

 

 

 

 

Step 2

Download and complete the following 

 

 


 

 

 

Mail completed Medical and Release forms, passport sized picture,  copy of front and back of health insurance card and  recommendation letter for first time applicants (if not emailed) to:

Interview will be scheduled upon receipt of all of the above. Without all of the above items your application will be kept on the waiting list.

 

Counselor Application Deadline: April 1, 2020

 

Note: Candidates who complete both steps 1 and 2 of the application before December 15, 2019 and get accepted, will receive a $100 bonus in their stipend.

Counselor in Training (CIT) Program 


A limited number of 15 and 16 year old campers are selected in the CIT program. The CIT program allows campers to take on some camp responsibilities and participate in special activities. CIT campers become preferred candidates for counselors in the future. CIT campers are awarded community service credit. 
Younger candidates my be considered for CIT positions if they have attended camp for 2 years or more and on a case-by-case basis.
